WELLNESS AT STUDIO 18
OUR EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST
Imagine you are sitting in a car.
Your engine and transmission run great, but your brakes don't work. It doesn't really matter how well your engine works; if your brakes don’t function well you are still going to face trouble when going about your life. The same applies for your well-being. If everything else in our life is going great but we feel in distress, then other areas of our life, and overall performance in daily activities and ability to reach targets will be affected - and it is likely that you won't feel, and perform, as well as you want to.
OUR 9 DIMENSIONS
At Studio 18, we adopt a holistic approach to learning which seeks to promote our member's physical, mental, and social well-being. Underpinning this rationale are the 9 dimensions of wellness, which Studio 18 embeds in its culture, values, and learning characteristics.
Through various endeavours, Studio 18 commits to seeing the person behind the artist.
When we think of physical well-being we think of a place for keeping ourselves fit, and a place for seeking help so we can get better. Mental health is just the same - it is a major dimension of well-being. It is something we all have in common. When we enjoy healthy mental and emotional well-being, we have a good sense of purpose and the energy to perform effectively when tackling the things we want to do. It helps us make the most of our potential, and plays a full part in our relationships in our community.
At Studio 18, we believe in creating and fostering a sense of community of creative practice and learning. This helps our members feel valued for who they are – not merely for what they are able to perform. When members join Studio 18, they become part of our family. We believe it is vital to create a space where members feel safe and comfortable sharing how they feel; being who they really are.
Studio 18 is this space - we believe in ‘being’ as much as we believe in ‘doing’.
